Turin's Elegant Architecture

Turin was the first capital of modern Italy; it was also home to the royal family for years. Turin's Famed Draws: Technology and Religion

Turin may not be the first place you think of when you consider technology, but don't jump to conclusions. While Turin is not at the forefront of programming or development, it is an important location for the automobile industry: FIAT is based here, as is the Museo dell'Automobile or car museum, home to over 170 vehicles dating as far back as the 18th century, so car fans are sure to find something they'd like to see. Turin is also home to a lovely Cinema Museum in a gorgeous building that covers 3,200 square meters and offers both print and film installations on the 7th art. But modernity is far from all Turin has to offer. It's also home to one of the most important religious discoveries for the Catholic Church, the aptly named Shroud of Turin, which can be found in the Cathedral of Saint John the Baptist. The shroud itself is only displayed once every few years. Do some research on the sights you plan to visit to ensure that your room for rent isn't too far. Alternatively, you may wish to stay in a more residential neighborhood for a cheap apartment – no worries: Turin is easy to navigate, and you'll never be very far from all you want to see.

Eating in Turin

Northern Italy is far less about pasta than it is about polenta and rice, so be sure to take a taste of some local specialties during your stay, and leave the pizza and pasta to cities further south. This pre-dinner drink is usually accompanied by access to a food buffet, similar to Spanish tapas, and is a great way to end a long day of visiting the city.
